History and Heritage
The history of Bower Roebuck dates back to 1315. The factory located at New Mill was renamed Glendale Mills in 1899 and was operated by the then owners of Messrs Bower Roebuck. Unlike many traditional British mills, they rarely produced heavier woolen fabrics. With the advent of central heating, air conditioning, and electric cars, lightweight and flowing garments gradually gained popularity, marking the end of an era where heavy materials were used to combat severe cold.
Innovation and Leadership
In the early 1970s, Bower Roebuck became the world's first factory to produce Super 120's fabric. A decade later, they set another record by manufacturing the first Super 150's fabric using 15.3-micron wool. By the late 20th century, Bower Roebuck had once again pioneered the production of Super 180's and Super 200's fabrics. These fabrics have since become the global benchmark for quality and excellence, yet Bower Roebuck has surpassed these standards.
